Diabetes is extremely prevalent in most urban communities, especially the Bronx. In a recent survey published by the New York City Department of Health, one in every three people in the borough suffers from Diabetes. Urban Health Plan (UHP) alone has over 4,500 patients that are dealing with this epidemic. It is Urban Health Plan’s mission to educate the Bronx population about prevention and management of this deadly disease. To do so, UHP is hosted two Diabetes Expos in the month of July. The events included food demonstrations, exercise classes, activities for children and Diabetes education. Check out more photos from our Diabetes Expo on our Facebook page!
